Maybe a steak house. Money is not too much of an issue for me; good quality and service is though. As is a place that had nice ambiance. Can anyone recommend such a place?

**It could be in NYC or Jersey.

  1. Les Halles

  2. Old Man Raffertys in New Brunswick, NJ

Harvest Moon in New Brunswick, NJ

    Balthazar in NYC

    Serendipity in NYC

  3. Hi,

For a special occasion or to treat someone special, I'd go with Gramercy Tavern.  The food is awesome (they have great tasting menus too), the decor is great, and the service is super nice.

    Here is their info:

    42 E 20th St

    New York, NY 10003

    (212) 477-0777

  4. I would suggest Les Halles.

I don't know if you know who Anthony Bourdain is but he is the owner.

They have a great selection of wines and their service is great.

It has a very nice bistro feel to it.

The steaks melt in your mouth like butter and they have the best fries I ever had.

I also really suggest either creme bruille or crepes suzette for dessert.

With the crepes, they come to your table and flambe them in front of you, it's a lot of fun to watch.

There are two locations in the city.

    411 Park Ave South

    New York, NY 10016

    or

    15 John Street

    New York, NY 10038

I suggest the one on Park Ave simply because there is a lot of construction around the John Street location, so the area isn't as nice looking.

  5. Eleven Madison Park on Madison and 24th is very special - the food's wonderful and the place is gorgeous.  Service is top-notch - they always make you feel so special.  This is a great place for a celebration.

Since money isn't an issue, consider Daniel and Le Bernadin, too.

(I would avoid a crowded noisy bistro - make your parents' celebration memorable - you won't want other diner's practically at your table and you won't want to shout over the noise)

  6. The two restaurants listed above are great but you might also want to consider Morton's or Sparks for excellent steaks.

Peter Lugar, in Brooklyn (short taxi) is one of the best. Great porthouse steaks with awesome sides. No credit cards, so take lots of cash. The ambiance is not elegant while the others are.

    Make reservations!

  7. Cafe des Artistis is the official take your parents out restaurant in New York.  1 W.67th Street, Central Park, Lincoln Center and so on.
