What's a great song to sing and play on the guitar at a talent show?

I'm a teenage tenor, and i'm a moderate guitar player. i'm pretty solid on chords, and most tab is ok.

i don't really go for country or really hard rock.

also, i'd like to play on the acoustic, but i could play electric if you can think of a really good song.

My audience will be a group of about 500-1000 teenagers.

any ideas? any thoughts would really help. I'm performing in a couple weeks, and i'm still not sure what to play!

You should do "Trains" by Porcupine Tree.  It's a really great song.  You might need two guitarists for parts of it, though.

Why not try asking a bunch of your friends what song they'd like to hear? Then just pick which one you'd feel most comfortable with from the list of songs they give you. By doing this you're not necessarily trying way too hard to be a crowd-pleaser because you're still picking the song yourself, and you're also giving part of your audience a chance to voice their opinions.

its better you go through the songs you like...i mean like to ply on guitar...after you have selected the songs,,, think baout the public you are going to sing infront...and then select the perfect song...this will help you dun worry i know you can do it.

perform the song that you like nor the one others like....coz then you will give your best..
