What's a high school speech class like?

I have to take a speech class this year, and I have a really bad fear of speaking in public, but it's gotten better the past year. What is a normal high school speech class like?

I was like that too! I'm a junior this year by the way. But yea just remember that everyone is nervous too it's not just you. It's just something you have to get over. And it will get better as the time goes by. You'll survive though don't worry lol. Good luck!

If you ever get nervous, what you need to remember is that this is just your classmates and friends. This might calm you down a little.

There generally will be various types of speeches you will have to give. There will also usually be a given time period that this speech has to be given in (ex. 5-10 minutes). Some teachers are nice and allow you to bring up notecards to help remind you of what to say (so that you don't have to memorize it).
