I've been playing the Elite League games on the EA Sports NHL games, so I've been curious about the hockey culture in Europe. After all, plenty of guys in the NHL are from there, such as Finland, Sweden, Russia, etc. I'd like 2 know more about stuff like the SM-Liiga (Finland), DEL (Germany), & Eliteserien (Sweden) leagues. If I visit Scandinavia for the 1st time, I'd like 2 visit a hockey game there.

  1. I've watched games from the Finnish league, as well as one from the European league featuring Lugano (Switzerland) vs Bratislava (Slovakia)

Less physical play (don't worry Don Cherry, there's more than the ASG), more of an emphesis on skill and speed.

  2. much better than the NHL. i saw a game in sweden. it was amazing the skill they have. much better than NHL. in the NHL they just try to flatten people . there was alot of 1 on 1s and skill worked involed. it was alot of fun to watch. they have bigger rink to

  3. I think they skate in the opposite direction!

Actually I don't think it's much different. The rink is a little bigger, and I think they play by international rules, so it moves a little faster. Faster face-offs and maybe automatic icing.

  4. A lot more diving, whining, and otherwise a Crosby-fest.

Garish uniforms, soccer chants for hockey, and some really loose puckbunnies.
