  1. A kill could be a set over, pass over, spike or a tipped or dinked ball.  As long as the ball is not returned to the opposing side, that is a kill.  The more common kills would be a spike or tip

  2. When the ball is spiked down on the opposing team. Can not return it.

  3. From the NCAA statistics manual-

Article 2. A kill (K) is awarded to a player any time an attack is unreturnable

by the opposition and is a direct cause of the opponent not returning the ball,

or any time the attack leads directly to a blocking error by the opposition. A

kill leads directly to a point. When a player is awarded a kill, the player also is

    awarded an attack attempt.

To sum it up, a kill is any kind of attack  by any player (including the back row hitters or the setter) that leads directly to a point.  Either by the ball hitting the floor or the player not returning it or a blocking error.

  4. a hit that the other team cant return...just like an ace except its a spike not a serve

  5. ok i am here to set the record straight. i am a volleyball player and have had many "kills" in my carrer.

a kill is simply when a hitter mostly your power hitter (left side) goes up for a hit and basically hits is so hard that it is unretournable. it may also jsut be a good hit becasue there are some times when you are playing an excellent defensive team taht they eill be able to return the hit and yet it can still be called a kill.

and for who ever said it was an ace.... LMAO... an ace is when a serve is put ofer and noone n teh other team touches it before it hits the floor. lol =)

  6. When the ball is spiked (from your side) and you get the point off of it.

  7. A kill is a spike, tip, or dump that results directly in a point because of fault of the other team.

    * it doesn't have to directly hit the ground, it could be attempted to be passed by someone, but be totally shanked in another direction, and it is still a kill.

  8. A kill is not called an ace.  An ace is the same as a kill in that it can not be returned by the other team (either it hits the ground directly or is shanked) only it is off a serve, not a spike.

  9. When the ball is spiked down to the floor and no one on the other team can get it. It kills the play.

  10. its when the hitter gets a good set and spikes it so hard and straight down that there's no way the other team can return it.

it can also be called an ace.

  11. when someone spikes it and the other team fails to return the ball(cant hit it)

  12. When the other team cant return an attack..

  13. a kill is when the opposing team cant return the ball anymore as a result of a spike or anything like it..

  14. Maybe in Canada they call any old spike a kill; here in the US you need to score a point.

  15. when the setter sets the ball and you spike it to the floor or when you spike it and the opponent tries to dig it but shanks it instead.dat is considered a kill

  16. When someone spikes the ball over the net and the opposing team  a) doesn't touch the ball b) doesn't get a second playable touch on the ball or c) touches it, and it goes out of bounds
