a person has a split personality such that he/she converses with him/herself and interacts further than just talking?

I know that there are many disorders where a person talks to oneself and where a person is split into many 'mini-persons'. But is there one where, for example, a person grounds him/herself? And if so, what's its name?

  2. schizo affective disorder

  3. Bipolar :)

  4. You are right that there are many disorders where someone splits. You could be talking about dissociative identity disorder (DID) which was called multiple personality disorder before the DMS-IV TR was published. The DMS-IV TR is the diagnostic manual that mental health practitioners use to decide what, if any, disorder someone may have.

You could also be thinking about schizophrenia which symptoms include hallucinations, delusions, thought disorder, and disorders of movement.

You could also be thinking of schizoaffective disorder which is schizophrenia and a mood disorder such as depression or bipolar.

This might also be delusional disorder, or shared psychotic disorder, or paraphrenia, or substance-induced psychotic disorder.

All of these can cause a person to ground themself.

    I hope that this helps.
