I got stung by a bee on the bottom of my big toe joint yesterday. I got it to stop hurting by making a spit poultice with plantain, but now it's just swollen up. Right now I have it elevated with a bit of ice, but it's not working. What can I do?

  1. Honey, I'm not a doctor, but maybe you could soak your foot in Epsom Salt. I hope you get better soon because those things really hurt.

  2. Make a thick paste of Baking Soda and water.  Apply the paste to the sting, elevate your foot.   Let the paste dry and leave it on for at least one hour.  Repeat as necessary.  The baking soda will draw out the pain, bee venom and swelling.

  3. There is a homeopathic cream, calendula cream, which reduces swelling and helps the skin. Boiron makes it.

  4. Be SURE the stinger is not still there...make a paste of baking soda and water...make it thick, cake it on your toe, and elavate your foot for about an hour.  Benedryl will help the swelling, if you are not allergic to it.  Motrin 200mg will help the pain and inflammation.  A couple should help...again, if you are not allergic to Aspirin products.
