What's a neck-tie good for?

What does the neck-tie do? I understand that I have to wear a neck-tie as a part of the outfit of the groom, but the neck-tie is confusing me as I thought alot of the reason why it was invented.

I know why there are pants. I also understand the importance of shirts. Same as the jackets "that is when the weather gets cold".

As for the tie, I am clueless. Would someone enlighten me please?

I feel sorry for men who have to wear it, it's pointless, just like the high heels for women :D

It is only to give a nice finish to the suit and shirt.

In Germany ladies celebrate ladies day once a year. Any female has the right to cut the neck tie of any man even her boss with the scissors among other strange things they do to celebrate the day. So over there it is used to revenge from men and to get rid of any frustration that annoys ladies.

Your right it serves no actual practical purpose,especially in a country that has temperatures that go up to the mid 40c and beyond I think its ridiculous that men feel socially pressured into wearing a tie with a suit.

The normal tie can be used for several purposes in an emergency but what use is a bow tie?

The tie can give nervous hands something to readjust and straighten. It can give a woman reason to get close to her man by pretending to "straighten his tie".

Actually the neck tie as it is used today is descended from Croatian men's fashion in the 17th century. The French saw them wearing nice scarves on the neck and loved it, which led to the crevat.. but before that they came from the Roman fascalia was worn by orators to warm their vocal chords.

I know wayyyy too much stuff. sigh.
