Question:

What's a nice camera setting (DLSR) for this type of scene?

i am going to new a fashion ramp tomorrow in a club,

so there will be stage lights and also disco lights around.

but i am not sure yet how to set my camera, its a Nikon d-60.

how do you set your DSLR camera for this type of event?

i am new to this i just bought this cam last week and not sure how to set it right in different events.

and of course i don't want to flash my fire :D

Go to The ISO setting of your camera and adjust it to 400,800, 1000 or 1600 (the higher the number, the more it can take pictures with less available light, but the image noise increases as you go higher ISO) and practice taking pictures indoors at night in your house, electronic store, or a place where there is not much light, At first leave the setting in Program mode and then try the Night portrait on page 37 of the manual. I attached the link to the manual so you can see how to change the ISO and try different settings and see how it comes out before your actual event. Have fun in your photo shoot.

  2. It is hard to say which setting exactly without being there and knowing what lenses you have. Here is some general advice on what to do. Set your camera on aperture priority. You want the largest aperture (smallest number) you have on your lens. Then you will adjust the shutter speed until the light meter is in the middle. You can also use P mode if you are uncomfortable with this.

    Set your ISO to 400 or more. If you can get away with ISO 400 don't go higher because the image quality will suffer.
