What's a nice way to say I want to quit student council??????

I became the sec/treas of student council for the upcoming year of school.. at first it sounded like a fun idea until i realized it wasnt all fun and games... i havent done anything for the student council so far and i think the right thing to do is quit.. so whats a good way to say that to the pres. and the council's sponsor???? I'm serious so don't give me silly advice..

  1. you could say u have a lot of hw or other things occupying your time.

At my school leaving the organisation would go on your permanent record and colleges you applied to would see it.  If you were elected then see if you can talk to the sponsor and try to switch with the runner-up.  Although it would suck to be stuck in a group you don't want to be in, you shouldn't risk your chances at getting into colleges for it.

  3. You can see that you no longer have the time to devote to the job./
