  1. Ii's similar to a bakery , desserts , cakes , pies are made there .

  2. Essentially pastry, like the England version. They probably DID mean pasty.

  3. Pasties are as mentioned a traditional pastry from England specifically Cornwall. Originally the pastry was not eaten as it was too heavy and was used to keep the food inside it warm until lunch time down in the mines. It then began to lighten and what is now the Cornish Pastie has been developed.

However in a number of European countries you will find pastitsies which are lighter pastries, usually filo that have various fillings from savoury through to sweet. They are a must when travelling and each region has their own specialty.

  4. It can be just like pastrys but a lot of times they mean savory pies of meats and/or veggies...I believe some shops sell both savory and sweet pies

  5. Pasties are a hand held meat and veggie pie. So a Pasty shop makes and sells pasties. The are a big deal in Michigan especially in the upper penninsula.

    Here is a despcription:

While there are no completely standard pasty ingredients, almost every traditional recipe includes diced steak, finely sliced onion, and potato. Other common ingredients include swede (rutabaga, called yellow turnip in Cornwall) and possibly parsley. The presence of carrot in a store-bought pasty is sometimes considered an indication of inferior quality in Cornwall, although it has become common in American pasties. Other cuts of beef are occasionally used instead of skirt, and steak may also be replaced by beef mince (ground beef), although in Cornwall this is also a sign of inferior quality. While meat is a common ingredient in modern pasty recipes, it was a luxury for many 19th century Cornish miners, so traditional pasties usually include many more vegetables than meat.

  6. It a place where there are all kinds of sweets
