  1. A pet deposit is like a security deposit you pay in case you've damaged property during your lease. The pet deposit works the same way. It is to fix anything your pet may have ruined. For example, carpet replacement if the pet stinks it up (by doing their business) or ruins it by scratching.

  2. It's up to the landlord whether or not he/she will allow the cat there. If it clearly states No Pets then you may just be out of luck and try not to get caught. When I moved into my apartment on the first of this month, I had to pay a pet deposit. It was 150USD and I don't get it back when I move out. The reason for this in my landlord's eyes are because if the next person that moves in after me is allergic to fur they have to use special cleaning supplies to get the dander out, ect...

Most people use it for any damage the pet caused or may cause while living in that space. Some landlords will give it back to you at the end of your term if they are nice enough.

  3. Landlods that accept pets charge a deposit to cover damages in the event your pet causes any.

If you are already in a lease where pets are not allowed. You may not have the option of paying one. You need to refer to your lease and call your landlord.

  4. a pet deposit is the same as a security deposit its additional money you need to give your leasor incase your pet incrues any damages

  5. A pet deposit is something you pay so that if your pet does any damages to the apartment or whatever they take it out of that. You get it back when you leave if there are no damages.
