  1. "I'm not really comfortable talking about that, but I appreciate your concern."

  2. I appreciate your concern, but this is a personal issue which I would prefer not to discuss.

  3. "Please mind your own business."  Direct, but it works.

  4. Say that you respect them and their opinion, but you hope that they in turn, will respect you and your wish to handle your life by yourself.

  5. "I'm sorry, but this doesn't concern you."  The "sorry" makes it polite and the "this doesn't concern you" puts them in their place!

  6. It depends on the situation.  If they are prying, you can gently say, "I'm not comfortable discussing that with you."

If they are interfering in a situation, you can say, "Thank you for your concern, but I am in control of the situation."

  7. tell them it's personal and you really don't need or want any one to know in a polite way

  8. Try this:  "Thank you for your idea/suggestion.  I will think about that.  For now, I am going to _____ and see how it goes."   What can a person say to that?  They got a response from you and a thank-you -  that usually shuts people up, and it is quite polite  :)
