  1. Some quick and easy ways to alleviate SEVERE depression?   Hmm...That's a tough one.  Well, I guess you could try exercising; however, if you're SEVERELY depressed, you might be too apathetic and lacking in energy.

The best way to alleviate SEVERE depression:  I would suggest marijuana, but it's illegal, so it's not an option.  I'd be irresponsible to suggest you smoke some dope or snort a line of cocaine.

Go to a doctor, get a prescription.  That's the best way to treat SEVERE depression.

    Take care.

  2. I try to sleep off depressive episodes...I usually think to myself that "tomorrow is a new day" and so I try to make the current day go away as soon as possible.

  3. Unfortunately there is no quick fix!! You need to see a Dr. and get medication and that takes time to kick in and take effect.

  4. One thing that might help is to spend some time with a good friend. It would get your mind off whatever is bothering you, at least for a little while. At some point you have to do more than this though.

  5. Win the lottery

  6. Mild to moderate deression I would suggest using St John wort supplement, but severe depression always need medical attention.  In th meantime however, try eating bananas.  They are full of potassium and it releases 'feel good factors' in your system. And also if you drink alot then cut back and quit smoking if you smoke as both these habits prolong depression.

  7. Excersize!

Endorphines make you feel good, excersize produces endorphines hence making you feel good!

Try something fun like Tae Boe! Billy Blanks has a way of cheering you up when your feeling down at least it works for me!

Do something anything to get your body moving, rollerblade, ride a bike, dance in your living room, jump on your bed, do tae chi in the park, just get movn and you'll see how good you feel if even for a little while.

  8. I have found that, for me anyway, it helps to change my environment.  There are certain things I can do that will stop the out-of-control spiral into worse and worse depression until I can work on the problem with a clearer mind.

I will usually turn on a lot of bright and/or colorful lights.  I'll put on some happy, upbeat music (the happier-boppier, the better), and sing along and dance along.

Thankfully nobody is around to see or hear, but I do it for me because it helps me get out of my mood.  It's been proven that the light causes biochemical reactions in your body that improve mood.  And, sure enough it works for me.  The music helps me get my mind onto happy things.  The singing and dancing are physical activities that also cause biochemical changes that improve mood.  Sometimes I've even taken myself to a restaurant where I can order a healthy vegetable-rich balanced meal, because that will help, too!

Yes, it is only a temporary fix sometimes.  And, yes sometimes it's really hard to pick myself up and force myself to listen to music and force myself to enjoy it and force myself to get into it, ...but you just have to stop the problem from getting worse so that you can start to fix it and make it better.  It's a time when my will must take over and make the decisions because my mind isn't working right and cannot.  This helps my body to start healing my brain.

Be sure to talk with your doctor and/or counselor though.  They're always a big help.  Best wishes.

  9. Listening to a really good song. A smile on your loved ones faces. Watch a movie called "the secret". Hug on your family pet.

  10. Do something nice for yourself.  Get out and be among the living.

And if it lasts, see a professional.
