  1. i think you're referring to people who bid against the table on craps. and the casino doesn't care, only the other people at the table do

  2. The casino doesn't like it because you are betting and hoping that the shaker  will lose in craps.  If the players feel someone is draging there luck down they stop playing, and thus lose money.

  3. That's a gambler who was born with his hands and feet on backwards...

    Very sad...

  4. the wrong way bettor is a person who plays the "don't pass" on the craps table. i met a lot of hostility from dealers when i did this, but I'm not entirely sure why...probably because i was winning.

  5. A "wrong way bettor", sometimes called a "back-line" or just "wrong" bettor, bets that the shooter will not make a pass.  The wrong bettor has the following betting options:

    1)  The Don't Pass - Made before the come-out roll (the shooter's first roll of a sequence), the bet loses with a 7 or 11, wins with a three, and wins with either a 2 or a 12 (whichever is the not barred c**p; the barred c**p is a push).  Once the point is established, the bet wins if a 7 comes up before the point.

    2)  The Don't Come - Same as the Don't Pass except that EVERY roll is a come-out roll.

    3) The Odds Bet - Once a point is established, odds can be laid to increase the amount bet that a 7 will come up before the Don't Pass or Don't Come point.  Bet increments and pay-outs are the opposite of those for right bettors.

    4)  The Lay Bet (Backline Buy) - The counterpart of a right bettor's Place bet, a wrong bettor can bet that a 7 will come up before any specific point box number.

Dover is correct that the house has a little less (some would say insignificant) advantage over wrong bettors.  That having been said, the casino could care less if you bet right or wrong.  The house has an advantage over both right and wrong bettors.  The table personnel may overtly root for the shooter just to go with the majority at the table; but the casino could care less.  The superstitious right bettors at the table may not be particularly fond of wrong bettors, fearing that their "bad karma" may impact the outcome of the dice.

  6. In craps, a "wrong way bettor" is a player who bets against the shooter by placing a bet on the "don't pass" line, which means he is betting that the shooter will lose.

This is actually a better bet than the Pass line in craps, percentage wise.

The reason the dealers at the table (the casino) do not like this type of bet is because the craps players do not like it!

A "wrong way bettor" is considered by many players to be bad luck at the table, since they are betting on the shooter to lose. And most  craps players want a shooter to win, and to have a long streak of throws.

So because the players don't like a "wrong way bettor" neither do the dealers, or the house, because it is thought that they discourage players from playing and from betting, reducing the action on the table, thereby reducing the dealers tips, and the casino take.

There is a great way to win at craps that does not involve "wrong way betting", called Calculated Craps, a proven strategy for the craps table. You can get this stratgey FREE for a limited time. Here is a link:
