  1. We have two math games out for Valentine's day - one has a large heart cut in half - one half has a number 1 - the other half has one heart on it - one half has the numbe 2 - the other half has two hearts- you get the idea.

We also have large hearts with printed hearts on them and the number printed and we let them put real conversation hearts on the printed hearts (check for allergies first).

You can make a Clifford out of all hearts - one large red heart, cut a pink heart in half for the ears, two white heart eyes and one black heart nose - very cute and you can read "Clifford's First Valentine's Day to go along with it".

Make Valentine bags for the valentines they will be bringing in. I get brown bags with handles from our local Hallmark store and they decorate with cut out hearts, cut up doilies and foam hearts and other valentines from past years cut up into pieces. They get really excited when they find a piece of a Spiderman or other character!

Fold over hearts when you take one large white heart shape, put dots of pink, red and purple on one half of the heart and let them fold it over to make a beautiful design.

I could go on and on but I think I'll stop now!

  2. Play a math game involving candy hearts or read some preschool valentine books like dora or arthur and then have a valenitine party

  3. fraction  of harts

  4. you could do like all Valentine's themed

activities like math you could use candy

hearts to count... for reading you could

get Valentine's books or you could think

of things that remind you of Valentine's

    Day....

there are many possibilities just be creative!

    good luck!

P.S. you could also do valentine's crafts

  5. Have them all ( boys included ) dress in Victoria's secret lingere

  6. Go to Prekinders.com and Pre-kpages.com They have great theme ideas!

  7. activity 1:

well i like using tissue paper bits (use tissue paper that you cut into squares of about 1-2 inches) Use a variety of shades of pink, white and red and the kids crumple the square up and dab it into some white glue (about 2 tbsp or so) that you poured onto a paper plate. then stick the crumpled tissue paper onto a heart shape ( that you already cut) it makes a fabulous mosaic piece that is super colourful and the 3D effect is awesome.  plus it takes TIME and keeps them busy for quite long stretches. the kids i did it with were 4 yrs old and seemed to enjoy working on it for almost a full hour and they loved the final result .

it's a bit messy, but not awful

it's not terribly educational, unless you count the fine motor skills they are practicing.

    activity 2:

for an educational activity - take cinammon hearts and play a game of "which hand has more?"

i play this with my 3 yr old, using chocolate covered raisins and he LOVES this game. and he's learning to compare numbers also.

put a different number of hearts in each hand (for example 2 in one hand, and 5 in the other).  important: don't let the kids see what goes in each hand.  then tell the kids "this hand has 2 and this hand has 5.  which hand has more?"  let one kid  answer. if he answers correctly saying 5 is more, he wins the 5 hearts and gets to eat them.  if he answers incorrectly saying 2 is more, tell him that he won 2 hearts. open both hands and show him the 2 he won and the 5 he didn't. ask if he wants to change his mind. but make sure that he gives you a full answer to change his mind for example he should say "5 is more than 2. i'd like 5 please"

then play again with the next kid and a different number of hearts per hand.

  8. cut out a bunch of different sized and colored hearts, give the kids construction paper and glue sticks and have them make a picture putting the hearts wherever they want.....you can also try to make a lady bug by cutting a heart in half

  9. Here are some valentine's activities:

    You could talk about:

    the heart

    love, being kind and sharing

mixing the colors red and white to make pink
