  1. sure Yamaha is the way to go RX-V series

  2. Onkyo, Denon, Yamaha or Harmon Kardon.  For great quality and decent price I'd lean towards the Onkyo even though I own a Harmon Kardon.

  3. It various. Some will cost you the bucks for a new car. Check with " What Hi-Fi?" and "Hi-Fi News", the leading journals in the  industry. They rate products in different price ranges.

  4. NAD , Denon , Marantz , Outlaw Audio , Pioneer , Yamaha. I have the NAD T-775. Awsome sound and power. No distortion at all.

  5. That is going to vary based on the application. provide more detail otherwise every one will have a favorite.

What speakers, sources, vision for the future, etc do you have?

While most of the brands listed are decent manufactures there is a plethora of manufactures and one will have a specific model that sounds good and does exactly what you want.

I suggest some reading material for you to evaluate on your own what a good receiver is.

  6. The good brands are Yamaha, Dennon, and Onkyo.

Sony makes a lot of c**p receivers, but the "ES" series is respected.

Pioneer also makes some crappy stuf - but the "Elite" series is quite good.

Onkyo has been winning some awards with their new TX-SR505, TX-SR605, TX-SR705 receivers.  They pack a lot of features that under-cut the Yamaha/Dennon models by a few hundred dollars for similar specs.

  7. i personally like onkyo

  8. in my opinion lg or sony it depends on what you want 5.1 or 6.1 think about it btw i think is best to get one with dts it's better than dolby iv got a lg and it rocks ps do not get one that's under $200

    have fun
