  1. Tachikara!!! Those things are the best... a little expensive depending on what kind and where you buy it. But, they are AMAZING!! And if it's too expensive, Wilson's always good too. :)

  2. One that isn't hard and heavy... meaning it should be soft... For beginners, a lightweight volleyball, that is extra soft, is ideal - such as Mikasa's VUL500 Training Series.  Be sure that it has the right amount of air pressure, so that it remains 'soft'.  You should be able to press your thumbs about 1/8th inch into it.

I always find it very hard to test a volleyball at the store - because you really need to dig it, to see how soft it is?  You really need to play with it, for about a minute to exactly know how it behaves or less.  If it's the wrong kind of volleyball, you should be able to take it back (be sure not to use it anymore, when you are sure it is unsuitable, like after only a minute of using it - don't keep on using it, if you are taking it back...) - a good store will accept the return, in exchange for a different volleyball - because they should know which ones players like especially..

After about 20? years of playing social volleyball - I am sick and tired of using rock hard volleyballs, that some teams use.  I've had enough injuries from them - which are completely avoidable with a soft volleyball.  And even soft volleyballs will be 'hard' when you have too air pressure inside them.  You have to remind them, that volleyballs are not like soccer balls, etc.  Volleyball is the only sport where the ball makes frequent contact with the player's body parts, in which it is expected to bounce off, and not break one's limbs, etc with.  Also the laws of physics applies - a hard volleyball will break your fingers - because you cannot guarantee correct contact 100% of the time..  Also for some very fun volleyball, the soft lightweight volleyball allows for more saves, extra spin and general clowning around, with no harm done...

  3. Tachikara for sure! It can be a little pricey, but it's worth it(=

  4. beach or indoors?

its good to try them b4 u buy them, just play with them inside the store....certified pro balls are always a yes...but then again it all depends on what level of playin you are in and the feel of them....maybe also your budget

  5. either  Wilson or Spaulding. thats what our team uses. and theyre really good quality.

  6. 4 indoors i'd go with baden. best brand no doubt. beach i'm not so sure.
