  1. If you've got the time why not get a replacement unit from a breaker and fit it yourself, no more than a 10 min job and easy to do...the garage's love small jobs like this because it's easy money for them.

  2. For all the clever clogs telling this poor chap its a simple job, remember it most likely is an electric mirror. In which case on the focus you need to remove the door card to access the connector.

    About an 45 minutes labour and the cost of the part  is what I'd be charging.

    So say £30 labour and £50? new for the mirror.

  3. mechanics always charge allot for this kinda thing because its simple quick money your better off buying the part and doing it yourself it is honestly extremely easy like changing a wheel everyone can do it

  4. It take about 1/2 hour to do the job so say £30 ponds if a garage or £15 o on the side

  5. Don't pay him anything - it is a 5 minute job - 3 bolts and nuts - undo - old one drops off - put new one on and tighten - job done.

    Simply pop the plastic cover off on the inside door trim

  6. Try it yourself i just replaced two side window seals on my rear windows which took the whole thing out and only took me 1 1/2 hours,and saved me £150 +

  7.   OK  depends if just the glass or if the frame is OK or not.  I replaced a glass myself for £20,  as frame was undamaged,  apart from a couple of scratches.   If a new frame is required, which involves colour matching the paint,  and the glass as well, then the labour charge. it would be about £100 .  Also depends a bit if it is  manual or electric adjusted

  8. is it only the glass is broke on your mirror? if so then its a easy repair. the mirror  lifts up and out from nearest the door,and then the furthest part from the door, push the base part in towards the door and it unhinges from behind the lugs, get the new glass and do the reversal and it's job done. no nasty mechanics  bill. job takes 5 minutes

  9. £50 + Parts ( Ring the Main Ford Dealer for the cost of the mirror ). Even for a non main dealer.

  10. Mine was about £50 about 3 years ago (I also have a Ford Focus) A School bus wiped mine out!

  11. If you were a new customer coming in off the street it would be $100 labor and about 60.00 parts. If you were one of my regular customers I would give you a break and say like $50 labor 60 parts. If I install the mirror and for some reason it falls off either through my fault or faulty components you would expect me to replace it free of charge. Also while the actual job takes like 10 minutes I first have to talk to you and find out what you want done lets call that 5min, then the actual work (pull car into shop, remove old mirror, install new mirror, check for good fit and make sure I didn't leave greasy fingerprints all over cause your not the only customer,) lets call that 15 minutes, after that's done I have to fill out the invoice and collect payment 5-8 minutes. Sure its not a big deal but its time I'm not working on another car that you might consider to be a "hard job". Also I pay taxes too, don't think I get every bit of that money. And anyone who does this for a living knows the easy jobs are always the biggest pains.

  12. There are several options here - If it's just the glass, then around £25.

    If the whole unit has to be replaced, then I'd say that an electric mirror unit would be between £40 for an aftermarket unit such as these;

    or nearer £100 for the part from Ford.

    If the shell is colour coded to your bodywork, that would add around £30 to be colour matched, and with any complete mirror replacement, I would expect a garage to charge around £50 - the door trim has to come off to access the connector plug on a Focus.

    So a maximum quote could easily be £200.
