What's a suitable beginner sports motorcycle?

I've narrow my search down to three possible candidates. This will be my first bike. First is the Yamaha R6. I hear it handles well and low cost.Next would be the Suzuki GSX-R 750. Just a good overall bike. And last but not least is the Yamaha R1. Pure power.

I'm 5' 7" 160 lbs. Most of my riding will be in the city. Please list other suggestion, if any.

  1. Honda CBR600RR or CBR F4i. This is a perfect starter bike. If you do a little research on the bike you will see that there are a lot of great reviews on the Cbr.

  2. For the City, A KTM 525 / 530 exc Motard!!  These things are all torque!!! A lot more nimble and manuverable? than a sports bike!  Tis is what they look like :    supermotard.dk/images/541.jpg

    Check it out!!

  3. well im 14 and i ride my uncles r1

its a little big for me

    i would get the r6

just becuase it comfy, and it handles great, and its fastt

    always go with yamaha

you wouldnt like the r1 as much as the 600cc bike trust me

  4. A Ducati 620 is an excellent bike to learn on; not too fast, handles great, all kinds of fun, and it just looks bad @ss.  It doesn't have the angles of a traditional sportbike, the seating postion isn't all leaned over, and the shifter, pegs, etc, aren't too far back, for a first bike.  Also, for your size, you can't beat it.

Here's a quote from the article:

Performance levels are impeccable, and riders can rely on a smooth torque delivery in all riding conditions, starting from high-traffic city routes. This engine is also able to deliver a potent torque curve, a quality that enhances the ability of Monster machines to offer extreme ease of handling and agility in mixed riding conditions

    Get a Duck!  Quack Quack

For your first bike??? !!!!  You are going to kill yourself.  Yes you will get tired of small 250cc bike.  But using that logic you probably will get tired of 600cc and 750cc.  NO !!! You need to gain some experience first.

Those are hwy bikes. They are NOT street bikes (not good at low end and easy to ride at low speed.)

    Good Luck...

  6. If you're a beginner, the only one on that list i would reccomend is the R6...

anything over 600 cc's is going to get away from you quick...

    the jixer 750 MAYBE....

I definitely would advise against a literbike for your first bike...
