  1. You're old enough to decide for yourself whether you want the antidepressants or not.  Just tell them that deep down, taking medication is making you feel worse about it.  They can't shove it down your throat.

If flat out guilt won't work, bargain for it.  Tell them you'll start doing things that are known to help with depression in place of taking the pills, an example being exercising or going out with friends, or even making friends, or taking up some kind of hobby.

  2. they cant force u to take it if u really dont want to..

  3. If your doctor prescribed lexapro he did it for a reason! Klonopin is highly addictive and it sounds like maybe you want to keep taking it for that reason. If you truly are concerned about the lexapro, consult your doctor. Your parents can't force you to take anything when it comes to meds....talk to your doc!

    Good Luck!

  4. take the medicine or talk to your parents.

  5. Pretend to cough into your hand, now practice this first, and spit the pill out into your hand and either hold it there or throw it behind you or slip it into your pocket (make sure you wear pants with pockets).  That way you can pretend to swallow and down "it" will go.  LOL!  The jokes is on them!

  6. well you could just, put it in your mouth and keep it under your tongue and when no one is looking you can spit it out then rinse your mouth out. That's the only thing I can think of, I hope I helped you.

ps. I also HATE the idea of taking antidepressants for my own reasons.

  7. pretend like you put it in your mouth but really shove it in your pocket when they arent looking. Slight of hand.

  8. I think you should stick to what your doctor prescribed you. I doubt your parents would "force" you to take something if you didn't need it. It's dangerous to go on and off meds so just tough it out for 6 more months then you will be legal and it will your decision.

  9. lol umm put it in ur mouth for a while nd go spit it out in the b.r

  10. hide it under your tongue or get a good pill  for you and make it look like the first one

  11. You will really mess yourself up by taking meds like these one day and then not the next because you aren't able to get away with it all the time. The effects from intermittent use will be worse than just giving in and taking them. If you really don't think you need the meds, talk to your doctor. If all else fails, when you are 18 you can move out and do whatever you want to.

  12. grow up. you've obviously been prescribed those because you need them. Your 17 years old. Act like it. Ashamed of you and i don't even know you. Don't go around asking stupid-*** questions like that on here.

  13. Why is it important to take antidepressants as prescribed?

Antidepressants work best when you take them exactly as your doctor prescribes them. This also helps reduce side effects.

If you take your medicine as prescribed and give it time to work, you may begin to feel much better. If you don't take your medicine as prescribed, it is less likely to help you. Most side effects are mild and will go away after you take the medicine for a few weeks.

What are the alternatives to treatment with an antidepressant?

If you're not comfortable with having your child take antidepressants or your child has had a bad reaction to antidepressants, talk to your child's doctor or mental health professional about other treatment options. For instance, a variety of counseling techniques are available, including psychotherapy or cognitive behavior therapy. In some cases, family therapy may also be helpful, to involve the whole family in psychotherapy. Getting children involved in school activities or sports also may help. You can also encourage your child to journal as a way to explore or release feelings.
