What's a word for "shared by everyone"?

I'm looking for an adjective to describe the journey of finding yourself, if that helps.

A word for "shared by everyone" is communal. However, it doesn't describe the journey you're referring to. "Universal" might work -- we all travel different roads to discover who we are and why we're here. It is a universal experience, in that we all do it, but it is not communal, because we don't always share it.
