Question:

What's about the coolest temp you can expect in a ventilated attic in Florida?

I installed an attic fan and set the t-stat at about 120 (per guide). I notice that I'm averaging about 130 deg in the attic in full sun during the day but the fan pretty much runs until the sun goes down. I did put the fan probably a little too close to the ridge vents towards the roof peak.

Should I raise my t-stat to 130 or 140 and let the fan turn off to save power or will I probably just need another vent installed at a better location? Thanks.

  1. The fan uses a negligible about of electricity unless it's quite large. If you set the stat higher you'll be defeating the purpose of it in the first place.

Run her down to 110 f and she'll cut out in the evening and in mild weather.
