  1. I have not been made aware of any magic the moon can give. All i know is that it helps me find my way in the evening even without flashlights.

Now, I know there is effect on the rising and ebbing of tide in most bodies of water including our own body waters that is 75%.

  2. You mean other than to help cause larger tides?

  3. You got it...it is mumbo-jumbo. The new moon causes higher tides, as does the full moon, but that is about all. What else could an inert lump of rock 250,000 miles away do, apart from exert a small gravitational pull.

  4. exactly that: mumbo jumbo.

otherwise errant nonsense, total garbage, bullshit. you get the idea.

  5. This is just bunk.

  6. Belief that the new moon has powers comes from a number of pitfalls of human reasoning.  One of them is the fact that we tend to remember the hits and ignore the misses.  When something strange happens and there is a new moon (or full moon), people tend to remember that because its significant.  But people tend not to remember all the times something strange happens when the moon is in all it's other phases, or at least they don't correlate it with the moon. This phenomenon is called 'confirmation bias' and is probably the root cause of most superstitious beliefs.

  7. Although the new moon doesn't have more powers than any other phase, this mumbo jumbo may be due to the fact that there's always an eclipse when there is this phase.

  8. Hocus-pocus.  Ask the juju man under "alternative".
