The Aztecs lived in Mexico.  They built a capital city called Tenochtitlan on an island in Lake Texcoco.  They are a very interesting culture who rose to power around the 15th century.  They are known for being somewhat of a warrior culture.  They controlled much of central Mexico for about a century.  In about 1519 the Spanish arrived in Mexico, and took over the Aztec city.  They destroyed much of the city, and tried to convert the natives to Christianity.  Eventually, the lake was drained and the area that was once the Aztec capital is the capital of Mexico today, Mexico City.  I am not sure, but I would assume an Aztec-Spainard might be someone who has both Spanish and Aztec heritiage.  This is not uncommon in Mexico.

no such thing as an aztec-spaniard... i guess you mean a mestizo (son/daughter of a spaniard and a native from one of the spanish colonies in present-day latin america, but not necesarily aztec)

aztecs came originaly from aztlan, and after receiving a message from the sun-god huitzilopoxtli they started a pilgrimage to find a new place to settle. they found the god's signal in the texcoco lake, where they built their capital city, tenochtitlan (modern day mexico city). once they settled there, they changed their name to mexicas, and became the biggest empire of the area now known as mexico

since aztecs are mexican and the spanish took over these early civilizations they  intermarried. thats why many mexicans look like native americans. it has nothing to do with cathlics or holy roman. mestizo is in fact a level of cortez's government but it is to early to mix into modern existing people . a mestizo is a child of a native and spainard. it can be interchanged,but this is all natives not only aztecs.
