  1. your gonna be in a tube and gonna have to stay perfectly still

  2. I had to have a few MRIs done when I injured my shoulder.  When you first walk in you'll have to put your cell phone, keys, wallet, coins, belts, and every other metallic object you have into a locker since these might be tossed around by the powerful magnet in the machine.  You might have to change into a hospital gown.

Next, you'll lie down on your back on a movable platform that slides into an opening in the machine that's about three feet wide.  Most likely you'll go in head first.  The tube is narrow and some people don't like the small space.  The doctors at the MRI center will do everything they can to make sure you are as comfortable as possible.  Your parents or anyone else you bring with you will be able to be in the room with you.

The machine is loud, so you'll either be provided with ear plugs or headphones (the doctors may talk to you through the headphones or they may play music to help pass the time).  The machine will make what sounds like loud clicks, tapping, and whirring.  This is all normal.

Once you're inside, you'll have to lie as still as possible so that the doctors can get the clearest images from the machine.  This will also help in getting you out of the tube quickly.  The time you'll be in the tube varies based on what's being scanned, but expect to be in there at least 30 to 60 minutes.

Once the scan is over, the doctors will slide you out, you'll retrieve all your stuff, and you'll go home feeling fine.  A few days later, the pictures will be ready to be picked up.
