What's an alternative to flip flops?

I'm in middle school, and for some reason, my parents won't let me wear flip flops to school. What's an alternative to flip flops that's not super preppy or dorky? It's still pretty warm and I'm not really a tennis shoe kind of person...

At school they dont let us wear flip flops because someone could step on the backs and we could trip,but we are allowed to werar sandals with backs like cute gladiator sandals or just some cute strappy sandals.

Or just wear tennis shoes and stick a pair of flip flops in your bag.

Get some Crocs! They are trendy, comfortable, and come in various styles and colours.  Do get the real thing though.  The copies fall apart. They have their own Web Site, so you can mail-order if you want.
