Sometimes when I drive, or when I turn down a street, the speed limit sign doesn't show up for a while and I get confused on how fast I should go.

Any tips?

  1. If you're in a residential area, drive 25 mph. If you're on a freeway, drive 55 mph. Do that until you see a speed limit sign.

One more thing you could do is just go with the flow of traffic, if you don't know what the speed limit is.

  2. rule of thumb

    housing area go about 25

    busy street go about 35-40

    highway  55-60

interstate  65-70  depending on your state laws

  3. As a general rule, if you are in a residental area the speed limit is 30mph, but this be reduced to 20 mph near schools at certain times and where children are playing. Outside of these areas, the limit will generally be between 40 & 60 mph depending upon what type of road your on. Dual carraigeways and motorways would be 70mph, main road, single carriageway would be 60mph.

Remeber though, that you need to drive at a speed that is consitent for the road conditions and weather, plus your own capabilities.THe signs displayed are always the MAXIMUM speed, not the speed you need to drive or it is safe to drive at.

You could always look at the highway code for further guidance.

  4. If you've been driving anytime at all, then you know that you don't drive 55 in the city or a residential street. You know the speed limit is going to be 25 or 35, so you should drive 25-30 until you see a sign. Most places won't mess with you for doing 30 in a 25, but if doing 35 in a 25, " I thought it was 35" isn't going to save you a ticket.

  5. I can drive your car, hire me

  6. bring a timer,

  7. Your own common Sense should tell you, as stated, just think if you had a child in view, And think what the child is thinking!!!!!!!
