What's an inexpensive place to take my parents for their 17th anniversary in Philly?

I'm on a budget, only about $75. This is their 17th wedding anniversary, and I wanted it to be special since we would be out of town. I'm not sure where to go. I'd prefer Italian, but all suggestions will be taken into great consideration. Please nothing silly like, "McDonalds". Thank you!

  3. If you have money to splurge ($75-80 for 3 people), I would say take your parents to Maggiano's, a  very nice, family style Italian restaurant on 13th and Filbert (Corner, across from Marriott). My family took my grandma there for her 72nd birthday and we had a great time. They feed you family style and the food is delicious.

If you want to spend less (Around $60 for three people.) Go to Olive Garden, but I don't recommend 13th and Chestnut. The service is really bad, but there is one in Bala Cynwyd, PA and Springfield, PA (Brand new). I go to Olive Garden about twice a month, the food is great! They play great music and the drinks are plentiful and very good. I am confident, you and your parents will have a great time!

  4. Since you mentioned Italian, I suggest going to Maggiano's on 12th and Filbert St. across from the Reading Terminal Market.  If just the 3 of you go, you can easily spend within the $75 range.  Alcohol not included though. You can order individually, or family style.  The portions are very big and you will definitely take home leftovers.  The menu is VAST and the food is delicious.  I've been to the Maggiano's in Philly 2X and the one at King of Prussia mall once.  All three experiences were great.  I highly recommend it and I think your parents will love it there.  The decor is "old time Italian restaurant" with red and white checkered table clothes.  Give it a try!

  5. It really depends which section of Philadelphia you want to go to.

I think for $75 your best choice for Italian would just be a chain restaurant, like Bertuccis, Olive garden, etc.

If you could go up to about $100, zagat.com lists these:

    Abbraccio

    820 S. 47th St.

    215-727-8247

    Mama Palma's

    2229 Spruce St.

    215-735-7357

    Marra's

    1734 E. Passyunk Ave.

    (Moore St.)

    215-463-9249

  6. Try historic Ralph's in South Philly. I belive they're on 9th Street but I couldn't find them on the web.

  7. I'd say a French restaurant called Beau Monde. It's a creperie found off of South Street in Philly. The address is: 624 South 6th Street Philadelphia, PA 19147. It's a great place, and it's cheap and really good, if you like crepes and French food. It's usually better to go at lunch- but it's still cheap at dinner too, but it's a great, cheap place. VERY GOOD FOOD!

  8. Hard Rock

Copa Bananna it is closer to the Mayfair part of city in NE philadelphia maybe like 45 minutes away from center city, im not totally sure of the prices

Elephant and Castle - good prices, yet still nice \

Frankie and Luigi's in south philly is amazin and italian but it will probablly be closer to $100

  9. La Viola is a really cute, Tiny byob in South Philly, under $15 a plate, and if you bring your own drinks you'll definitely spend under $75. Reservation is definitely required. The site below has a menu for here.
