What's an informal way to say "hello" in japanese?

so i can talk to the japanese exchange students at my school :)

i take japanese class but all we've learned is konnichiwa, konbanwa, ohayou, etc. would "konnichiwa" be considered too formal when talking to seniors (im a sophomore)?

  1. The informal way to say hello in Japenese is to say Koncha, but if you are about to address an older person, you will have to use konnichiwa. In Japanese culture, its important to show utmost respect to your elders.


  2. Guest9827 is wrong.  It's "moshi moshi", used when picking up the phone.
