What's an ouija board?

OK, I'm a Christian, and my pastor was sharing with me one time when he knew a group of young people who tampered with something like this/similar to this, and something REALLY bad happened to them. He wouldn't say what, but he's no joker. What IS an ouija board? I hear so much about these things on Yahoo! I know they don't work on most people, but with people who are really serious about those things, you do hear of people seeing demons and there are occasional possessions, so I think people should be more careful than we think.

But first things first: can someone give me a description of one of these boards? I just picture a chalkboard. And is the word 'ouija' Hawaiian?

  1. A ouija board is a vacuum, spiritually speaking. It pulls in everything around it-"good" or "bad". They do indeed work, but most people just don't recognize it. Or they ignore it.

Being pagan-my belief system is a bit different from yours (no demons and suchlike within my realms). There is negativity that stems from those things, however.

Basically they're a rectangle with the alphabet and various numbers over them. You can easily google pictures-they're all over the internet. I won't even touch them (I won't even touch the box they COME in if I can avoid it). They're completely neutral, and couldn't care less what they draw into you and whomever else is messing with them.

Avoid them at all costs. As someone else said-you play with fire, you get burned.

  2. satans boardgame....stay away from it

  3. You can buy one anywhere that games are sold, like target or somewhere like that.  They are just the same as any other board game except the entire alphabet in on there and the words yes and no.  The game also comes with a little little plastic piece a little bigger than a computer mouse with a clear plastic window and what ever letter is goes over is the letter the "ghost" is showing you.

Though in reality it is a board game and i would not take everything your pastor says so seriously.  Definitely listening to someone with ulterior motives will not always yield the truth!!

  4. It's a board about the size of a large laptop with numbers 0 - 9 and

all 26 letters of the English alphabet on it.  Two or more people will

place a finger on an easily moved object (a "placette", is what I think

it's called)...and a spirit will take partial possession of one or more

hands/arms and cause the placette to move.  It will spell out answers

to questions put to it.  It is a form of "automatic writing".

I can't write that I am aware of anyone who fools around with a

Ouija Board that doesn't need the assistance of a skilled and eperienced

Ceremonial Magician, Shaman, or Witch at some time to "clear" their

residence...and in some cases the OB user as well.

IF you have already used an OB and are having manifestations:

Check your hard-copy Yellow Pages of any large metropolitan area

near you for "new age", "metaphysical", "magic(k)", "paranormal", etc.

The shops listed will either have bulletin boards with notices of local

Covens, Drumming Circles, and/or Orders OR the staff when queried

may be able to refer you to one of their frequent customers who can

    assist you.

In the future...stay away from the Ouija Board!

  5. The word "ouija" comes from the French and I believe maybe the German words for "yes" - oui and ja.

The ouija board is just a game that you can buy in most toy stores and department stores, an ordinary piece of wood or plastic or cardboard.  It is meant for two or more players so it will not work very well if you try to use it alone.  It has no supernatural powers.  The people using the ouija board make it work through ideomotor movement.  It plays on your mind and imagination and your susceptibilities and beliefs and fears.  It can be scary because the imagination is a powerful thing, and can make you believe just about anything.  Here are a couple of links that discuss ouija boards and how to use them.

  6. The greatest thing to play when your bored.

  7. Most importantly, your pastor is employing scare tactics to keep you away from something that he doesn't understand. Essentially, ouija boards don't do anything at all for most people. Spooky, eh? People just get scared because they heard something from somebody that heard something from somebody who made it all up.

You can find a picture on the internet. Look at a google image search.

  8. A round board, with the alphabet, around the outside and a pointer (arrow) in the middle that can turn freely. It is used to talk to the dead, ghosts and spirits.  The Net has 5 980 000 sites.

CAREFUL. If you play with fire you'll get burned.

    Peace.

  9. A board of any shape or size that contains all the words of the alphabet including the numbers 0-9. It has a moon and a sun on it with the words "yes" and "no" on it too. This board is said to open the doors to a spiritual gateway.

    Be careful.
