  1. Usually this is a fancy name for "salesman" but it's normally used in semi-professional markets such as banking, investments, and office supplies.

    How much they make depends upon what they're selling and how good they are at selling it.  (Almost always on commission).


  2. The major difference between an account executive and a salesperson is who handles the residual sales.

    An account exec is responsible for maintaining the relationship between an account (customer company) and the manufacturer or provider. This would normally be on an assigned basis. i.e.; this is my account. I handle the sales, problem solving and informing for them. Maybe even collection if necessary.

    Compensation would depend on too many factors for here.

    Account exec in Advertising 6 figures easily.

    Account executive in an auto parts store? 20k-50k (approx)
