Why do you need to say it nice because I am sure the workers don't mind just showing you....

Well first you reach across the counter and grab them by the tie/scarf while pulling out a machete and... uh scratch that. Politness shouldn't have to be your supreme worry. These people are paid to help you but just in case ask very simply. Excuse me Ma'am/Sir but i am new at flying(even if you aren't) and i can't seem to find my next flight. If all else fails use my personal favorite: Walk up to someone and address them by the name on there name tag be sure to wear sunglasses to hide your eyes. Say to them "I need to find the (time of flight) flight to (your destination). If i miss it i am going to miss my dinner with Beyonce!!
