  1. pc is more customizable and holds most the gamer crowd, were as macs are made by 1 company apple. pcs are made by 1000's of company's, and many company's make parts for there, were as macs need more special parts.

  2. I M soooooooo BIASED.

vista killed both of my brand new expensive Dells -- so back they went.

My two  just keep working.

  3. Each has their pluses and minuses.  I was a life long PC user until Vista was forced on the consumer market.  It was the serious problems with Microsofts Vista OS that caused me to return three high power computers each with SP1.  Additionally, the Video and sound platforms are still not complete-over 1 year after Vista was forced on consumers.  Regardless of what Microsoft tries to do and all the tune up packages they provide to enhance performance, the OS remains a huge memory hog and consumer of your hardware which should be going to applications.  Vista will always be a slower and more bloated OS than XP or even 2000 OS it previously released.  Drivers for devices and applications are still having problems because the drivers do not go all the way down to the platform.

Another issue with Vista besides is slowness, resource hogging, drivers issues, and video and sound platforms is that although it is being forced on you, it actually gives you no reason to upgrade.  Let me explain:  The only difference between XP and Vista is Vista's ability to handle Direct 10 X.  Direct 10X is used for some very rare gaming applications.  So in essence, even if you were a gamer and able to use Direct 10 X, the resource hogging of vista will slow down your gaming.  Serious gamers still use XP or Linux.

Another reason is that there are many versions of Vista.  If you look at what Vista offers, there is techical only one Vista version that equals all the features XP offers-that is Vista Ultimate.

Dell is a great company, they have been raising the flag on Vista and listen to their customers and now making many PCs with hardware 6that works for both XP and Vista and upon demand, will enable you to downgrade to XP.   It is for that reason if you want a PC you should get a Dell and get the XP downgrade.   Viruses are also now a lot worse for Vista now than they ever were for XP.

Because Vista gives no reason to upgrade and corporations simply refuse to use it, I will only address XP PC VS a Mac:

Mac-has $200 worth of excellent software called iLife that does not exist with PCs.  Comes with state of the art hardware and in integrated-meaning it takes fewer steps to perform operations, simpler to use and understand and will last twice a long as PCs. Integrated software makes applications run quicker without the hang up issues associated with PCs. Very rarely crash, look better and are lighter.  Have a Matte Screen that do not reflect and show true colors and have stunning film editing, graphics, music, photo and mixing capabilities.  a Mac can use Bootcamp and and enable XP or Vista to be used.  On Macs those OS actually work better than on PCs that have them pre-loaded.  They are no known viruses associated with Leopard.

Draw backs is services and changing hard drives can be expensive and standard warranties last only 90 days.  Hard drives have a slightly higher propensity to die

PCs lots of software gaming applications.  Any games that require high end graphics cards will not work on a Mac.  XP is stable and robust.  Has more software applications available to them.  If you want laptops in the $900 and down price range, buy a PC.  Can also play Blue Ray.  Easy to swap out all drives. Everyone can help you.  Excellent for real gaming in the $2000 plus laptop market

Drawbacks, glossy and reflective screens, viruses are out their forcing you to use anti spam and virus applications and keep them updated. more maintenance and hardware tends to overheat quicker-Slower RAM.

Overall, if you are into having a computer last longer, intend to deal with Film editing, music, photos, mixing and want to make web pages on your own, you will need a minimum of a 2.0 GHZ processor, decent graphics card and spend over $1000-A mac is preferred.  If you want a simple computer for school that does the basic stuff and is under $900, get a PC-you will have gaming capability based on your hardware.

I personally had a Dell and when the mother board went out and Vista SP1 didn't answer the mail, I switched to a Mac.  I also use XP to run old applications, but find myself going more and more to the Mac applications over windows.  Had it not been for Vista, I may never have tried a Mac.  But I love it. Mac users generally keep their Laptops for 5-7 years, PC laptop users  3.5- 4 years.  Micsrosft employees are placing thumbs down on all posts that cast a negative view of their products and and positive view of Macs.

  4. Some people go with mac others with pc, I honestly don't like mac for the following reasons. Is doesn't have that many upgrades which means if the hardware ruins you can only get it from mac and no one else and it costs more practically buying a new one would be better. As for dell if the mother board or any other component gets messed up you can always replace it without wasting a lot of money. Its true there is just a few viruses for mac meanwhile there is thousands hunting PC's, but with a good firewall you don't have to worry. There is less viruses for mac since those who program viruses alway go for the top seller.

You will get answers saying to buy a mac there better or buy a dell but is up to you.

  5. Get a Mac hands down. I used to go through a new pc every year for all of the photo editing and website design that I did. I purchased my first mac two years ago, and it's still going strong. Now, with software like bootcamp and parallels, you can take most of your favorite windows programs and use them on your mac computer. It's definitely worth the extra money to get a mac. Make sure you wait until after the next refresh before buying (due in just a couple of weeks). Good luck! Go Mac :)

  6. Mac, most definitely. The quality of the Mac is much more advanced than that of PC. It is specifically used for imaging and professional use, but it's just as great for everyday use. And one of the greatest plus sides is that Mac does not get viruses like the PC does. I've owned a Mac iBook and a Dell laptop before. I've had the Mac iBook for over seven years and it gives me no problems. With the Dell, the same amount of use as the Mac, I was left no option but to sell the laptop as parts, since it completely went to waste after a year and a half.

  7. mac is better for imaging or some professional use. pc is better for gaming and everyday use

  8. Honestly, I am a Windows user for all my life. I would normally recommend Windows, but this time I won't. Windows is more user-friendly and can run MUCH more software than Mac. And it depends on what you want it for. Video and picture editing are best done on a Mac. And so is Graphic design. Windows can do it, but Mac is better for it. For gaming, I would recommend Windows. If you are just a general user and will use it for multiple things, I would really recommend Windows. Hope this helps!!!!

  9. PC is still more popular in US.

If you know how to run PC program on MAC the difference can be minimised but that is considered as troublesome by some :p

MAC is more expensive but nice interface.

    PC is more tweakable.

  10. pc forever , my bff

  11. PC!!! I used Mac and hated it.

  12. It completely depends on what you want to do. First thing is to ignore fanboys on either side of the issue.

Apple makes quality laptops, as do other companies. The build quality of top end Lenovos (used a lot by business people), for example, is every bit as good as Macbooks and Macbook Pros.

With a Mac, you can easily dual-boot Vista and Mac OSX (or tri-boot Windows, Mac, and Linux), and because laptops aren't that upgradable anyway, there's no real downside to a Mac laptop compared to the upgradeability problems with an iMac.

I don't personally like OSX (prefer Linux as far as Unix derivatives go), and it may turn out that you don't either, but you can always boot Windows on it. On the other hand, if you have experience with Windows and are comfortable with that OS, then there's no particular reason to get a Mac -- just buy a quality laptop..and if you get bored of Vista, dual-boot Vista and a modern Linux distribution.

  13. PC.

    Mac sucks ***.

    The Macbook Air:

    13.3 inch screen

    $1,799.99

    Hard drive IS ONLY 80GB

    HP Pavilion Laptop:

    14.1 inch screen

    $849.99

    HARD DRIVE 320GB

    MACS ARE RIP OFFS!

People only buy them because they're stylish, even though they suck ***.

If you want special programs that Macs have, just download them from the internet.

Don't spend wayy to much money on a cheap piece of junk.

  14. It is a shame when Microsoft sends its employees to deliberately discredit user opinions of others.  And then resorts to getting on blogs and yahoo answers to try to discredit every signal opinion that is against them even when the issues are facts and well documented.   It is so obvious it is sickening.  Any time someone posts a question regarding Vista, Microsoft is all over it to promote the lousy software that doesn't do anything different than the version it released almost a decade ago. That reason and that reason a lone is why a Mac will always be better than a PC and worldwide sales of PCs are down while Mac sales are up.

If you are an average PC user a Mac is the PC for you.  If all you do is game and use Direct 10X than you should get a PC that is a rocket, because that is what hardware you will need to run it.  Microsoft took 7 years to re-develop software it made 7 years before and bottom line it's slower and more bloated.  Even with state of the art hardware and the most sophisticated motherboards and processors on earth, Vista is physically unable to beat the speed that XP delivers on it's applications. What's with the boot up time of Vista- Is that a joke, give me a break!  With a Mac, I'm in my application completed what I need to do before I see the platform even beginning to roll with Vista.  The media play sucks eggs-no clarity whatsoever and cannot hold a candle to quicktime.  In an effort to corner the market, MS has tried vainly to develop it's own programming language.  In that regard, Linux is regarded as the most secure for military applications and it's the number 1 systems that even foreign governments are using. Microsoft has done everything possible to keep the linux down, yet it's sales continue to climb and take away ever more market share for Microsoft.   If you want to listed to Microsoft lie about how great their software is and the Mojave project, here is more reading that puts things in their proper perspective. http://blogs.zdnet.com/hardware/?p=2311  Vista has been built on a deck of cards and is worthless in my opinion.  All they can do is literally lie about what their software can do and refuse to compare it to the 7.5 years old software that works better.

The MS office suite-what's with that.  what does it do that's different than the previous versions that was launched almost 6 years ago-nothing.

The bottom line is and the the reason why PC sales are in the sewer is because if you spend $800 on hardware, you expect your entire OS and the applications it run faster by the same improvement in hardware.  That means if to increase a processor from 1.2GHZ to 2.4GHZ, I expect to have a computer than runs twice as fast, not 30% slow than an OS the same company released 7.5 years ago.  Same thing with 512 MB RAM vs 2 GB RAM.  Why does the OS use all the 2 GB when the Box still stays it requires only 512 MB.  You cannot compare a PC without holding up Vista to the light and breaking it down to it's finest pieces and then comparing it to a Mac.  A good company doesn't need have to hire employees to monitor and sabotage and degrade the free flow of information on Yahoo Answers.

If the PCs had a good OS, it would obviously speak for itself.  It does not and ski masks and trying to stop the truth that Macs are superior to PCs largely because the Microsoft OS Vista cannot tread water on it's own.  Vista is garbage-and not worth the plastic it is printed on in my opinion. I don't know what the software engineers were going, but I would like to ask them what they did-nobody understand what it is they have with Vista.

To Microsoft, everyone in Yahoo knows what you are doing and trying to do-the jug is up- Now go away and spend your time developing real software that works It's almost been 2 years-when will it work?

  15. It really depends on what you're going to use the laptop for. If you're going to use it for games, then go with the pc.  If you're just a casual computer user, needing only the computer for going online, typing up stuff, watching videos, listening to music, taking pictures, and the occasional bejeweled, then I would go with the mac.

    Reasons:

Most things you do on the internet now are independent of the operating system.  This means you can be on any computer and the website will look the same regardless if you are on a mac or pc or linux.

I recommend mac for new users/people unfamiliar with computers because of the vast amount of maintenance needed in a windows environment.

On a windows computer, you have to maintain your anti-virus/malware/spyware/adware definitions and do regular scans.  Although lots of people say that macs NEVER get a virus on it, that's not true.  Macs are also susceptible to viruses, but it would be very rare if you keep your mac up to date, which is easy.

Also with windows, you have to maintain the hard drive by doing a disk defrag and error checking to keep it running in good condition.  Macs (and Unix/Linux) don't need to do any disk defragging, as the operating system handles the data in which it doesn't need defragging.

I think it's just easier for a new user to not have to worry about these unnecessary maintenance.

Also, lots of programs are now cross platform, at least the ones that matter in the business world.  Microsoft office will work on both mac and pc, so you can still type up papers and reports.  Photoshop is also available for both mac and pc.

Plus, photo booth is fun :)
