  1. Get the V-Star Susan.....

  2. it is a marketing diff as well as some emisions changes depending on country, I would choose the Vstar or roadstar, Then make the roadstar a speedstar which is the high performance.

Speedstar components have been precision-made to Yamaha's exacting standards so they fit right and give you a level of power and performance previously unavailable. These competition products have been tested in specific combinations under controlled conditions. Competition Stage Kits have been designed for use in the configurations designated for each model.

Road Star Stage I Competition Configuration

Road Star Stage II Competition Configuration

Road Star Stage III Competition Configuration

Road Star Stage IV Competition Configuration

To enjoy your Speedstar products to the fullest, be aware of any laws that might affect your use of these modifications as well as all requirements of the sanctioning organization for competition use. Also remember that modified motorcycles may need a higher level of maintenance to perform to the fullest. Do not vary from the suggested configurations. Creating a combination not specified or tested can have a negative effect on the performance of your motorcycle and may even be harmful to the engine

  3. forget vstar or dragstar or whatever. The greatest bike yamaha ever created was the vmax! Go get it..u wont regret it.Its cheap, powerful and lots of accessories.y get something more xpensive but handles like a truck?might s well go buy a truck.

  4. Unless I'm missing something, the only difference in the Dragstar and V-Star (650) is the country you live in.

For example, in the US Yamaha sells V-stars (650, 1100, 1300) but in Japan they sell the Dragstar (400) which looks almost identical to the v-star 650 (cc's not withstanding).

So to answer your question, I would say that you can't determine which is better, just what is available and more suitable for your skill (concerning cc's).
