Question:

What's causing my '03 Honda Element stall?

About a month ago, I was running on empty and pulled next to a gas station pump just as my car stalled (I assume ran out of gas). After filling it up, it started up fine, but when I took my foot off the accelerator, it stalled again. I restarted, accelerated for a longer time period, same thing. I sat there for at least 20minutes with my foot on the accelerator until it finally would run (not stall) without me doing this. A few weeks later, the same thing happened -- but this time I had half a tank of gas in it already. Again, took some time accelerating it before it finally ran without my foot on the accelerator. It has happened two more times since (with plenty of gas in the car), and the guy at the dealership says he can't diagnose it unless the 'check engine' light is on (!), which it isn't. What's going on here?

Hopefully this will give you some insight.  If not, post your problem and see what kind of response you get.  This is a v-e-r-y active Element owners site.

  2. If your car has spark plug wires, you should check them to make sure they're properly inserted.

  3. Well, some cars need a little extra gas to run it but, i doubt thats your problem, just take it to the local mechanics
