Sorry this is a little gross....My little kitten has loose stool sometimes. It's not an every time she goes thing, and she doesn't have terrible diarrhea or anything just pasty p**p. The Vet has given me special food and enzymes to put on her food, but my question is this...I gave her more food than usual yesterday could that be what caused the loose stool? She's not sick she is eating, drinking and playing normally. Let me know how much you think a 3 month old kitten should be eating?

  1. Depends on the quality of the food.  Has she been treated for worms ?  If she has and she is clear it sounds more like a reaction to the food.  Changing foods might help.  Always go for a higher quality.   The Wellness line is great, Avoderm, EVO all have great results.

  2. Overeating can definatley cause diarrhea, so can some illnesses and also cheap cat food with lots of fillers.

How much your kitten should be eating depends a lot on the quality of food.  I highly suggest you avoid cheap food...stuff like Friskies and Alley Cat will give your cats the trots big time.  Science diet or Iams is good...follow the instructions on the label.  It's more expensive but she'll eat less of it, it's better for her, and her litter pan won't be so gross.

Just like people, cats will have GI issues sometimes.  I wouldn't worry about it too much if the special food has mostly resolved it.

  3. My kitten had the same problem.  i got her when she was 3 months old and it was my first cat so i didnt know how much to feed her so i started feeding her 2 spoons every hour.  i soon realized that i was giving her 2 much when she started having diarrhea.  i went to the vet and they gave some medicine and made her all better.  i would suggest feeding her two spoons every 3-4 hours.  you could also put some dry food in her wet food so she gets less wet food to slow down the diarrhea.  i would also suggest trying to change her diet.  science diet dry food is really good but my kitten isnt very fond of science diet wet food so i am still feeding her friskies (not that nutritional). good luck with your kitten!
