Question:

What's causing this pain?

Since 1999 I have had a reoccurring pain return to one or both of my shoulders. During these "seasons of pain" I lose mobility and strength in the shoulder and am awaken often by sharp twinges of pain that shoot down my arm (on a pain scale of 1-10 it's 11!). The shooting pain ONLY happens at night when I'm trying to sleep. This lasts for 1 to 4 months and then all symptoms disappear. (Sometimes for almost a year.) It happens in all types of weather so I don't attribute it to cold or heat.

Could it be from scooping hard iced cream for 2 years when I was 14/15? Why would it go away and return periodically?

  1. Your nerve roots in the cervical region must be getting compressed. Have an MRI done in consultation with a doctor.  You will locate the exact cause.   Loss of mobility may be due to loss of conductivity or slight damage to  nerve sheath.  Use flat beds.  Use slight pressure on the acupressure points on the back of the hands between the index finger and thumb to relax back muscles.   Three points at the nape of the neck will also help in relaxing provided the pressure is applied correctly be a specialised person.   Cervical spondylosis is another cause for such pains.  The following medicines may be of help to you

Rhus Tox 1 M single dose.

    Cocculus Indicus 30 x 3 doses

Calcaria Fluor 6X 3 times a day until cure.

Consult a homeo doctor before administering homeopathic medicines.  with best wishes.

  2. This sounds like a pinched nerve, should have x-rays of the cervical and thoracic spine, also could be degenerative disc disease.  Go to www.medline.com and check your symptoms on line.  This is a great site for medical research with the latest studies.

But ultimately you should seek advise from your physician.

  3. You have leprosy.  Your skin will soon start to fall off, then your nose and ears.  After that you'll start losing appendages.  Enjoy.
