  1. a ribbon snake is pretty inexpensive(less than $30). A baby corn snake or baby ball python will run you about $30-50 to start. I have a ball python and they make great pets.

  2. Garter Snakes.

They don't require a big cage, only a heat lamp, water dish, and some bark, and make a little hut for him to hide in with cardboard.

They usually go for around $20.

  3. a grass snake, but you could always catch one of those in a field and it wouldnt cost a thing lol

  4. a rubber snake.

failing that, colubrids are they easiest, corn, milk, king, and rat snakes

i have a 4ft king, his expenses are the power to run a 16wt undertank heater and a full grown mouse every 5 days. other than that their are the startup costs.

40gal tank for any snake that gets over 2 ft and less than 5 ft 100-130 bucks

substrate (i use eco earth) 6.99

    water bowl 4.99

    branch, Free if you're clever.

Hide Box, also free if your clever.

so roughly 120 bucks startup 150 if you arn't clever.

if you buy bulk, full grown frozen mice can be bought for less than 30 cents a peice. breaking down to a couple bucks a month feeding costs.

  5. well if you cant afford to buy any old snake, i wouldnt own one. they can be expensive with the up keep and the extras are nessasary.. you need a heat lamp and source, a big cage, fake plants, places for him to hide and lay out.. so make sure you can afford the whole package before going out and getting just the pet!
