Question:

What's different about a golf club that claims to be designed for seniors?

I recently viewed a driver I wanted to buy that looked exactly like the regular model I've been shopping for (Taylor Made), but it said it was a "senior" model. Wondering if this is why it was substantially less expensive?

  1. Senior golfer is not a major target for golfclubs and accesories sales (I read it on Better Golf after Fifty).  Thus, no extensive research on the technology, no huge ads, no big sponsored tournament.  And its reduce the total cost.  Other possibilities is like cheap computers sell to student. They don't really need hi-tech uptodate technology.  I have to wait another ten year to have such 'senior' privilege.

  2. It has a more flexible shaft, making it easier to hit the ball farther and straighter for weaker people. Also, the head can sometimes be a little different, also affecting the way the ball is struck. If you are a good golfer, you might consider returning that club, but if you are new to the game that club will be perfect!

  3. Usually, the senior model of a club is mostly in the flex of the shaft. Very few seniors maintain swing speed as they age. So to compensate the shaft is much whippier so that at the point of impact the club head is catching up with the hands through the action of the shaft  resulting in a faster swing speed than possible with a stiffer shaft.

  4. Probably the shaft?

  5. Usually a softer shaft for a slower swing speed, and maybe a lower kick point to ge the ball up faster.  Usually not a factor in reducing the price.

  6. It's the shaft flex, there lots of different flex types

    A=Seniors

    L= Ladies

    R=Regular

    S=Stiff

    XS

    XXS

    XXXS

    XXXXS

  7. Usually it's not the club, more the shaft flex. On occasion they will make "strong" clubs, which means the degree of loft is less than normal.

  8. More flex in the shafts of seniors clubs because they generally need more distance.

  9. lower kickpoint in shaft ,lighter shaft , stronger kofts on irons to regain some lost distance . negatives low kickpoint loss of accuracy , strong lofts remove 2 , 4  , 5 ,, irons replace with 22 and 26 hybird . throw extra wedge in . hybirds work

  10. it just a women shaft for senior

  11. It means it will have an extra light shaft. Since most older golfers don't buy new clubs, they tend to be cheaper because less are bought. Seniors are a little more careful with their money. In turn to appeal a sale to them, the club must be cheaper.
