  1. Fidelity Investments is one of the largest mutual fund companies in the country, and one of the most reputable.

The firm has a full service staff the is more than willing to guide you in not only explaining the account, but providing you informative publications and other information that would be very benefical for you and your mom

Contact the firm,https://401k.fidelity.com/ visit the site, if you have questions give them a call, they have a very large customer service staff waiting to serve you

It would be better for both you and your mom getting the information directly from the company than from some unkowns here of YA.

  2. It sounds like her employer has a 401k plan with Fidelity...have her check with other people at work, or a manager/ boss of some kind....and do WHATEVER she has to do to get the paperwork filled out ...so she can " participate" in the plan !!

She will be asked to contribute a small part of her pay into a saving/ investment plan....the company she works for MAY even add a little to that... IT IS A GREAT IDEA ! Don't let her pass it up !! Even just a few bucks a payday can add up ...for a great future.

.... and as someone already said, when you are with Fidelity, you are with one of the best. ( After she's enrolled...you can go to a website and " see" what her money is doing...every day if you want !! You can also get info on other plans from " Fido"...learn a little for yourself...and make BIG steps toward a comfortable future. ( ... it's not just for " rich people" anymore)...everyone is saving/investing in plans like that for their future. God only knows, you can't hope for Social Security or any government program to take care of you.  ( Just TOO many free-loaders out there )

  3. Fidelity is a large brokerage firm.

Your mom was probably automatically enrolled in a matching savings program - or offered the opportunity to use the firm's savings program - as a part of her employment.  More and more firms are doing so to encourage employees to use what's available to them.

They are a very reputable firm.

  4. Fidelity does handle 401ks, IRAs and mutual funds. She would have to ask the HR manager at work about it.
