What's going on with MIDNIGHT SUN?

So is going to continue writing it? This is so weird.

Steph says:

"I have a good idea of how the leak happened as there were very few copies of Midnight Sun that left my possession and each was unique. Due to little changes I made to the manuscript at different times, I can tell when each left my possession and to whom it was given. The manuscript that was illegally distributed on the Internet was given to trusted individuals for a good purpose. I have no comment beyond that as I believe that there was no malicious intent with the initial distribution.

I did not want my readers to experience Midnight Sun before it was completed, edited and published. I think it is important for everybody to understand that what happened was a huge violation of my rights as an author, not to mention me as a human being. As the author of the Twilight Saga, I control the copyright and it is up to the owner of the copyright to decide when the books should be made public; this is the same for musicians and filmmakers. Just because someone buys a book or movie or song, or gets a download off the Internet, doesn't mean that they own the right to reproduce and distribute it. Unfortunately, with the Internet, it is easy for people to obtain and share items that do not legally belong to them. No matter how this is done, it is still dishonest. This has been a very upsetting experience for me, but I hope it will at least leave my fans with a better understanding of copyright and the importance of artistic control"

I feel so sorry for her. I bet it's the same person that released Breaking Dawn early.

ARGH, She is not going to continue writing. Look what she says:

"So where does this leave Midnight Sun? My first feeling was that there was no way to continue. Writing isn't like math; in math, two plus two always equals four no matter what your mood is like. With writing, the way you feel changes everything. If I tried to write Midnight Sun now, in my current frame of mind, James would probably win and all the Cullens would die, which wouldn't dovetail too well with the original story. In any case, I feel too sad about what has happened to continue working on Midnight Sun, and so it is on hold indefinitely"

  1. She might not write it :(

  2. Omg!!! No!! That can't happen. She needs to continue to write it. It would be such a beautiful book. Does anyone know any more info? This is crazy. I loathe the person who has done this. Ugh. That is terrible. Hopefully, Stephenie will be able to continue. Hopefully.

  3. Ooh, I wonder how the person who did this feels now.... It must suck to be them, but I just got done reading this on her site and was surprised.

Well, I'm not a fan but I think Stephenie needs to get over her disappointment and help her fans out again. You know, the ones she still has left! And maybe if she wrote Midnight Sun then she would gain some of the fans that have left back. Doesn't she realize that her fans were disappointed with Breaking Dawn? She did what she wanted to do, and that's fine, but she didn't give any thought to what her fans expected of her. Now she's letting them down again.

All I'm saying is that she needs to get over this hurdle. She made it to twelve chapters, the rest should be easy since she's already written the story once! And maybe she needs to learn that this "trusted" person is not to be trusted again.

  4. man i just posted a question similar to this and i seems like she is not going to finish writing it anytime soon because she seems really pissed. i feel bad because thats not fair for the true fans that decided not to read it in respect to her and to wait for the final & completed copy to come out so now we all have to settle with the rough draft of the 1st half of the book! not cool  at all. i hate who ever posted it because now we may never see the other half of the book!!!!!!! i truly do hope that she decides to do the true twilight fans one last favor and forgives the others that decided to read it illigally and finish at least the rough draft of the second half and if she didnt want to publish at least post on her website so we could have the whole book insted of half. i know thats not fair to ask her because she is probably very sad and angry that her work got out but i hope she does forgive and at least finish the book. =[ i feel horrible!

  5. yea she'll finish. she just wanted a break after writing breaking dawn and then she'll finish it. i cant wait!

  6. I really hope she wouldn't make us hate her that much, I mean, if she stops Midnight Sun now her rep will go bye-bye, what with after the badly reviewed Breaking Dawn. Plus she wouldn't let us all down like that. It'll probly be postponed and she won't tell us about it til its ready to be published.

  7. Stephenie Meyer need to stop acting like this.

It happened and it will stay that way. It got leaked, so what?

12 chapters are out already and instead of being upset, she needs to start brainstorming on what's gonna happen next. Unexpected things. Twists and turns.

I am not a fan, but I really dislike the way she is acting. Her fans are counting on her and she is letting them down.

Technically, she has failed all of you fans out there!

  8. She says she doesn't have the effort to write after what has happened! And you can read the 12 chapters LEGALLY on her website now! She's so upset about the leak and those who downloaded it!

  9. What a shame. Can she even be called an author anymore? Not writing a book because she "doesn't feel like it?" Uh-oh! Hope she didn't quit her day job.

  10. She IS going to write it, but not in the near future.
