Question:

What's going on with my poker playing? I used to make money, now all I do is lose. Should I stop?

I play on world poker exchange, and got my bankroll up to $5,400. I play mainly on 1/2 NL cash games. In the past few weeks, I have dropped my bankroll to $2,300. I can't tell you how many times I've lost with pocket aces, suckouts, etc. When I bet aggresively to get players off possible suckouts, they call and get their cards, etc. There is so much luck in this game that I just wonder if it's worth playing at all. I spend so much time playing, enjoying it when I win, but hating it when I lose. Is it even worth playing? Should I switch to a different site? The only thing is that you get 75% rakeback on WPX. If I go somewhere else, I will just pay more in rake. Or should I just stop all together? This game is really infuriating. I am hesitant to stop because I used to make money playing so I think Im better than average, and also because I wont know what else to do with my free time.... help

  1. Everyone has good times & bad times. Now you are having bad times, so you should stop playing for couple of weeks, then try again and you should be okay.

  2. Move down in limits and reaffirm to yourself that this is a hobby and you can take it or leave it. Once that sinks in you'll start to be more comftorable while playing.

  3. Games change over time.  Have you had a chance to go over your hand history and see if your game has adapted?  Take a time out from playing for a while and review your game plan.  Take a walk in nature and let your mind free itself.

Come back refreshed and with a new game plan to win.

  5. Take a couple weeks off.  I would spend probably the first week just doing nothing poker related, then spend the next week reading about poker, either books or magazines or online, doesn't matter.  You could even just watch some tourney poker on TV.

Then approach the game fresh, with a tight/conservative mindset.  Eventually you will get your game back.

  6. Hi ya. If you would feel like playing poker, but you need some funds I would advise to check: www.ltdpoker.com where you can get money for your poker play and no deposit bonuses. Also available to US Players.
