  1. No doubt

    Blu-Ray will take

    the "VHS Award" and

    HD-DVD will take the dreaded

    "Betamax Award".  Blu-Ray will win

the war because their camp has received

far more backing in the industry recently than the

HD-DVD camp.  I mean, when you have a major film

corporation like Warner Bros. and a major video rental

company like Netflix going exclusively with your format,

you are on the right track to win the high-def format war.

  2. i agree blue ray all the way... blockbuster, netflix, ect, besides you you better audio,as well as vidio.......

  3. Blu-Ray will be standard. Soon to be under $199 at Wal-Mart by Funai (sold under a different label)

  4. Blu-Ray definitely has the lead in terms of retail and industry support - that's all that really matters.

HD-DVD may hang on until as long as next year, but I rather doubt it right now.

  5. Gotta go with Blu Ray.  Netflix just announced that they will not be carrying hd dvd's anymore.  I am guessing they know something we don't...  well I guess we all know HDDVD sucks!

  6. Though it's impossible to say for sure, it's almost impossible for HD-DVD to come back after recent announcements. With most of the major studios pledged to Blu-Ray and Netflix and Blockbuster on board as well, I find it unlikely that HDDVD can make a comeback.

They're coexist for awhile, but Blu-Ray will most likely come ahead within a couple years.

  7. While I'm not sure if you can call it a win... (as that would be saying that the Giants won the superbowl by buying every one of the patriots players off of the team to come play for the Giants) all I can say for sure is if bluray does win, the consumer loses.  That being said, HD DVD is realing from some diffinitive backstabbing by warner bros. whom have almost soley destroyed HD DVD.  Personally, if HD DVD goes under, I'll be moving back to dvd until flash drive media becomes affordable and then I will adopt that method for HD media.

  8. While blu-ray is more expensive it think that it will beat hd-dvd which you can find at walmart for $150 and at sams for $200
