There is going to be a new years celebration on december 31 2011 and then we will get about a week off of work, so basically nothing is going to happen on 2012.

2012 is just the revealing of the 'antichrist' at the middle of what Jews and Christians call the 7 year Tribulation. lol...nothing...the logic behind it==>one day cannot possibly disrupt a planet that has been around for 6.5 billion years...its just all hype...hav you noticed that like every single 2012.com website is selling books...no pole shift can occur in one day...no biblical disaster...no volcanoes...no milky way alignment (well im not 100% on this :))

however...with the way we as humans are heading im not sure the planet will be that much better off in 2012...were using too any resources and polluting the environment and we needt to cut back on population and nuclear weapons...

conclusion=it may not be pretty...but it certainly wont be the end

Well the theory is that the world will end. Personally i think its a ton of bull, but i know why it is predicted to end in that year. It all traces back to the number 23. OK, i know it sounds totally lame but the only reason 23 has anything to do with it is because 2 divided by 3 is .666...  Now how the year 2012 fits in is because if you add 20 and 12 you get 32, which revered is 23. There is this whole conspiracy about it. But if all of those people are right, then we will die in 2012. I don't think it will be in December but it would be somewhere within that year. But then again, many people thought that we where going to have like a nuclear explosion before 2000. and they were all wrong. But if you do think that the world will end in 2012 then just live it up. Besides, that's what you should be doing anyway. ;P

Well, I personally don't know if anything extraordinary (or world-ending, as I assume you're referring to) will actually happen.  

I do find the number of "predictions" mentioning that date, or near that date, a bit interesting.  And with the way the world seems to be going, who knows if society will fall due to the depletion of oil and all that - reverting to our primitive nature and hunting in small tribes again . . . who knows?  

It's an interesting idea to contemplate, and all very probable . . . but I do think it's probably just another conspiracy theory.  And, as a previous poster said, a great number of conspiracy theorists will be disappointed.

NOTHING!!!! if ur talking about mayans the only reason they think that world is going to end that day is because mayans believe in 5000 year period. and according to them that day is the end of the 4th period. and on the day, as predicted by mayans and their brilliant astronomers, the sun will be the center on milky way.
