Any recommendations about particular parts of the island to stay, or any to avoid - why?

Anything else that might be useful for me to know?

Thanks everyone!

    Harbour Lights too.

  2. If you like to party go to the BOATYARD.  Gorguess beach good(expensive) booze good people they have events all day long girls standing on the bar getting s***s poured down their throats.  ya know.. LOL

  3. You can stay in south coast area or St. Lawrence Gap where nightlife is seen there as well as hotels and clubs. East coast is good but too far of a drive/bus ride especially from the airport.

You do not need to bring valuables on the beach unless you have a trusted friend or family member watching them for you while you swim.

It is possible that someone may want to approach you to sell you something or try and do not give in for any matter. Try your best to ignore if anything.

When the water looks/is rough, do not go in but if you do go in, stay in shallow area.

A lot of guys are known to sweet talk or whatever but never fall for them, well, not so easy because I do not like players so giving you a warning in case you are looking.

There is also nightlife on Bay Street. You can feel free to check out Harbour Lights and/or The Boatyard.
