they're both nsaids and they both do pretty much the same thing. ibuprofen (advil) is really nice and works well. but if your back is hurting really badly and you think its going to be bugging you all day, naproxen (aleve) is better because it lasts longer. if you have to keep taking advil all day eventually it's going to give you a stomach ache. if you have a real serious problem go to a doctor and get yourself some vicodin. that stuff is heavy duty.
