I have been serious about lacrosse for a while, and I'm looking to have the opportunity to practice on a daily basis, so i want to plant a playing field at home. I already have an area that meet's the size i need and it it very fertile soil. Growing conditions and the amount of maintenance are not an issue I am just interested in knowing what kind of grass is most effective for playing lacrosse on

  1. bermuda or fescue

  2. You didn't say where you are.  I'm assuming if you are a lacrosse fan, you are in the NE.

Actually you should probably contact your county Cooperative Extension agent.  These are advanced degreed horticulturists trained to stay on top of the latest info and if they don't know they go straight to the state university experts.  To find your agent you can look in the blue pages of the phone book or easier, Google (your state) Cooperative Extension Service.  You might want to include your county, it might hasten the search.  Wind you way thru the websites to get that phone number.

What you want is a good athletic turf for your area.  It may be a type of bluegrass in northern areas...maybe a mix with something else, in middle US maybe a fescue grass, and in the south.......I'm guessing a type of bermuda.
