  1. According to mmamania.com, Bonnar was forced to withdraw from his fight against Matt Hamill at UFC Fight Night 13 due to a serious knee injury he suffered during training.

    [edit] Steroids controversy

Stephan Bonnar tested positive for an anabolic steroid after his fight against Forrest Griffin at UFC 62 on August 26, 2006. The specific banned substance that was found in Bonnar's post-fight urine sample after his unanimous decision loss to Griffin was Boldenone Metabolite, an anabolic steroid developed strictly for veterinary use on horses, according to the Nevada State Athletic Commission's drug testing results. During an interview, he claimed the steroids were used to treat an injured elbow, and he believed the substance would be out of his system before his rematch with Forrest Griffin. Bonnar was subsequently issued a 9-month suspension on his fighter's license and was fined $5,000 by the NSAC.
