What's happening on St Helen's Island, Montreal these days?

I heard that St Helen's Island, the site of Man and his World in 1968, has now fallen into disrepair and I find this a bit hard to believe. I would appreciate any Montrealer bringing me up to date on its current use. Many thanks.

  1. Its now named Parc Drapeau :( to give it a french name, it's doing great, Laronde was bought over by 6 flags which made a vaste improvement, we held summer games here and now have public olympic sized pools on the island and while I wasnt alive in 1968 its nice now, more built up around it so the skyline is different (i seen old pics0

  2. St. Helen's Island has not fallen into disrepair at all.

It is actually the place of many activities all year round, even in winter.

There are several outdoor swimming pools, a prestigious restaurant, a historic fort, several kilometers of path, a place for rock festivals and concerts, a museum of biodiversity, an amusement park, the historic metro station and a bridge to go to the island by car and bike and also to access the Formula One racing track and the casino on the Notre-Dame Island next to it.

This is the place of the Montreal winter festival and in summer of the international fireworks festival

To me the place is well maintained and groomed.
